CURRICULUM VITAE

My art practice is multi/interdisciplinary including but not restricted to: murals, artists books/bookworks, printmaking, sculpture, sound work, painting, drawing, photography, writing and performance. Studio practice involves a diverse range of printmaking, drawing, painting, upcycled materials and photography. Much of my studio work depends on techniques developed in response to highly restricted access to resources. Working within my means and capabilities gives all of my work a particular aesthetic and informs the politics/philosophy of what I produce.

I have an ongoing project exploring a relationship with spaces and landscapes. Recent collaborative works explore the potential for images, sound and material relationships to become immersive visceral experiences of natural and abstract narratives. These extensions of the work into soundscapes and multimedia environments involving elements of improvisation and live painting are wilfully ephemeral and obscure.

Social media has become a (relatively unmediated) means to document the DNA of this work beyond the performance environment. My books offer alternative readings of some of these events. They are constructed to be read as alternative experiences, open to diverse responses, conveying a sense of the visual poetics of isolated natural and abstract landscapes and narratives.

Current work is a response to my relationship with a range of social, political and cultural landscapes and environments. Book works are often made using a variety of printing and containment methodologies. These are applied to self-generated texts, analogue & digitally printed/paper based media and other appropriated reconfigured ephemera. They are made to be held in the hands for more intimate tactile thumbing through viewing/reading engagement or opened up, extended and displayed freestanding in the round as physically expanded sculptural structures containing poetic, visually immersive non-linear narratives.
